He is survived by: his brother Chester Shelnutt (Jan); his son Michael Shelnutt; and his grandchildren, Eugene Shelnutt (Trey), Derek Shelnutt (Monica), Beverly Shelnutt (TJ Gray) and Michael Shelnutt Jr. (Stevie West).
