She was predeceased by: her parents, Johnnie Lovelace and Mamie Sherman Lovelace; her son Billy Gene Hurston; her grandchildren, Jessica Hurston and Alton Glaze; her stepmother Irene Andrews Lovelace; and her siblings, Amos James, Martha Hall, Charles, Eddie B, Aaron Denton, Walter J., Emma Lee Heard, Mary Barrow, Evelyn Reese, Rubentia of Washington, Gertrude Brooks and Mae Fannie Flowers.
She is survived by: her children, Edna Hurston and Eddie Hurston; her grandsons, Johnny Hurston (Barbara) and Larry Hurston; her daughter Charlene H. Hargett of Lanett, AL; her grandson Vincent Hurston (Dankell); her daughter-in-law Barbara Billingslea; her stepchildren, Milton Glaze of Hopkinsville, KY, Deresia Glaze and Mitchellville, MD; her siblings, Ezella Merritt of Baltimore, MD and Catherine Williams; her goddaughter Susie Strickland of Valley, AL; and her close friends, Doretha Thomas of Valley, AL. and Carolyn Lyons of Valley, AL.. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
