He was predeceased by: his parents, John Dykes and Gertrude Wilks Dykes; and his sister Latina Dykes. He is survived by: his wife Carol Dykes of Lafayette; his children, Lisa Morton (John) of Metairie and Kevin Dykes (Landy) of Plano, Texas; his grandchildren, Emma Morton, Jack Morton, Kiri Dykes and Kaiden Dykes; his godchild Andrea Stoute (Lukas); and also, Tenley and Sullivian. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
