It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Franklin Smith (LaFayette, Alabama), born in Fort Payne, Alabama, who passed away on January 2, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Smith; his daughters, Kathy, Patricia Belcher (Larry) of Oak Bowery, AL, Vicky Ott (Gary) of Oak Bowery, AL and Barbara VanTilburg (Raymond) of Opelika, AL.; his grandchildren, Jeremy Brawley, Bobby Brawley, Alan Swain, Melinda Ward, Lori Temm, Adam Belcher, Christopher Ott, Daniel VanTilburg and Holly VanTilburg; his great grandchildren, Tad Brawley, A. J. Swain, Arielle Swain, Sky Baxter, Haylee Temm, Julie Temm, Aidan Foster, Alice Crisman and Grayson VanTilburg-Alamo; and his great great grandchild Asher Swain.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Antioch Baptist Church (20130 Veterans Memorial Pkwy, La Fayette, AL 36862).
