He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin "Buster" J. P. Owen and Opal Vonda Lamons Owen; and his wife Alverene Smallwood Owen. He is survived by: his son Ray Owen; his brothers, James D. "Cooter" Owen (Doris) and Melvin A. Owen (Linda); and his siblings-in-law, LaQuita Wray, Janice Bradford and Don. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
