He is survived by: his wife Margene Shumate; his son Shannon; his daughter-in-law Karmen Shumate; his daughter Tracey; his son-in-law Ernie Ragsdale; his grandchildren, Jordan Taylor Ragsdale (Aaron Parrish), Hunter Ragsdale (Bella Prince) and Blake Shumate (Gally Smith); and his siblings, Garland Shumate (Kim), James Shumate, Lynn Shumate and Carolyn Sheppard. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Brindlee Mountain Chapel Funeral Home (3552 Hwy 231, Laceys Spring, AL 35754). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
