She was predeceased by: her husband Douglas P. Hawthorne; her parents, Wesley Bess and Bunnie Pierce Bess; and her siblings, William Bess, Howard Bess, Vester Bess and Kathleen Scofield.
She is survived by: her children, Sandra Hawthorne Moore (Randle), Randal Hawthorne (Debra Arnold), Steve Hawthorne (Melody) and Tim Hawthorne (Marie); her siblings, Margaret Butts and Irvin Bess; her grandchildren, Randy Hawthorne, Brian Hawthorne (Connie), Randy Moore (Sonya), Kevin Moore (Beth), Adam Hawthorne (Crystal) and April Henderson (Phillip); and her great grandchildren, Creed Hawthorne, Regan Hawthorne, Rylen Hawthorne, Reid Hawthorne, Brookelyn Moore, Camden Moore, Tripp Hawthorne, Alaina Henderson and Landon Henderson.
