He is survived by: his wife Linda Mullins Bales; his grandsons, Jerry Trent Tolbert and Nicholas Adam Tolbert; his brother Jerry David Bales; his nieces and nephews, Tyrone Murphy, John T. Edwards, Wesley Truxell, Jason Bales, Fawn Murphy Wilkinson, Sue Ann Marie Jewski, Vita Truxell Bryant and Jerra Bales Rosine; and his son-in-law Evan Tolbert.
