He is survived by: his siblings, Daisy Flippen Kinard, Dr. Joseph Wheeler Flippen, Mary Francis Flippen and Martha Flippen Laster; his wife Andrea Allison Flippen; his sons, Murphree Shaw Flippen, Jr., Jerald Edwin Flippen (Stacy Hyer) and John Allison Flippen (Christopher Swope); and his granddaughters, Anna Claire Flippen and Lillian Allison Flippen.
