He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Truitt Whitfield; his parents, David Leo Whitfield and Jessie Holley Whitfield; and his brother Robert Whitfield. He is survived by: his children, Karen Whitfield Davis (Forrest) of Hoover, Bill Whitfield Jr. (Suzanne) of Hoover and Tim Whitfield (Sue) of Wilsonville; his grandchildren, Valerie Salinas (Greg) of Hoover, Andrew Davis (Jen-Yu) of Hoover, Daniel Davis (Magen) of Hoover and Ben Whitfield (Lesley) of Walnut Creek, CA; and his sister Mary Anne Doster of Lawrenceburg, TN.. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.
