He was predeceased by: his parents, L. C. Bowman, Sr. (Pete) and Nellie Ruth Bowman; his son James Bowman (Jay); his grandson Jimmy Lee Bowman; his stepsiblings, Sue Ann Utsey, Gerald Rollan and Janice Logan (Bill); and his brothers-in-law, James Lee and Don Miller.
He is survived by: his wife Dwan Bowman; his children, Lynne Hand (Lawrence), Freddy Bowman (Dorothy), Nancy Smith (Willie), Merry Lavender and Joey Bowman (Elicia); his stepchildren, Jay Childress (CJ), Sheri Morrison (James) and Jon Childress (Angela); his sisters, Carolyn Lee and Betty Miller; and his stepbrother Lamar Rollan. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren.
