He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Aldridge McGee and Mabel Lee Smith McGee; his son Danny McGee; and his siblings, Magdalene Lawley, Willie McGee and Tommy McGee.

He is survived by: his children, Tracy Dawson of Odenville, David McGee, Jr. of Jasper and Christie McGee of Centreville; and his siblings, Mary Frith of Jemison, Margaret McGee of Jemison, Martha Lawley of Jemison, Judy Jacks of Jemison, Leonard McGee of Brierfield, Eddy McGee of Jemison and Ricky McGee of Randolph. He is also survived by 4 Grandchildren; 1 Great Grandchild.
