He was predeceased by: his parents, Thad Gilbert and Mildred Gilbert; and his former wife Bonnie Jean Gilbert. He is survived by: his wife Glenda Gilbert; his daughter Wendy Gilbert; his stepson Michael Fortner (Teressa); his grandchildren, Courtney Smith, Carmen Smith and Michael Bryant; and his great grandchildren, Cory Smith, Carter Smith, Leda Gunter and Gabriella Maxwell.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Valhalla Funeral Home (5317 Bessemer Super Hwy, Midfield, AL 35228). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
