She was predeceased by: her husband Reverend Herman Abbott; her son Herman Abbott Jr.; her grandson Jason Speegle; her parents, Bennie Short and Audrey Short; and her siblings, Gene Short, Christine Grace and Dean Moon.

She is survived by: her children, Donna Mauldin (David) and Benjy Abbott (Kim); her grandchildren, Natasha Kilpatrick (Kevin), Daryl Abbott (Jenna) and Kacy Vail (Jacob); her brother Billy Short; and her great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Speegle, Brody Copeland, Coltin Kilpatrick, Payton Kilpatrick, Elaina Abbott, Ford Abbott, Noah Abbott, Asher Vail and Addie Vail. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
