He was predeceased by: his wife Mary; his parents, Ellie Plunkett and Willie Plunkett; and his siblings, Beatrice Short, Willard Plunkett and Harlan Plunkett.

He is survived by: his children, Nanieta Blackwell and Ramona Douglas (Kirk); his grandchildren, Michael Blackwell (Lindsey), Rhiannon Blackwell, Ryan Douglas and Katelyn Douglas; his great grandchildren, Michael Blackwell 3rd, Kallie Blackwell, Emily Blackwell and Caleb Blackwell; and his sister Katherine Kendrick. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and special friends.
