She was predeceased by: her former husband Rev. James "Jim" Plyler; her husband Alston; her mother Helen Walsh; her stepfather Joe Walsh; her father Ralph Kinder; and her granddaughter Angela Kennedy Fox.

She is survived by: her daughters, Robin Roberts (Chuck), Kim Kerrinnes (Kim) and Kristy Wheeler (Lee). She is also survived by four grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
