It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Magdalene Guthrie (Jasper, Alabama), who passed away on April 4, 2019, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband James Lloyd Guthrie; her son Eddie Dean Guthrie; her parents, Oliver Smith and Minnie Almar Smith; and her siblings, Arcenia Herhey, Nora Bell Bortolini, Nadine Guthrie, Pauline Dotson and Willie-Mae NeSmith.
She is survived by: her children, James Guthrie (Deb), Ray Guthrie (Donna), Charles Guthrie (Shirley), Daphne Pike (James) and Evelyn Sims (Bryan); her grandchildren, Angela Guthrie Hatcher, Amy Kelley, Charity Kendrick, Mandy Handley, Cassidy Pike, Faith Sims, Hope Sims, Mallory McLemore, Brandon Winstead, Marc Niver and Rusty Niver; and her siblings, Jeanette Earnest, Becky Medders and Martha-Lee Courtney. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren.
