He was predeceased by: his parents, Lemon Gurganus and Marietta Gurganus (Dover); his former wife Joan Pounds Gurganus; his daughter Quena Gurganus Mears; and also, James Garland and Lois Pounds, Sr..
He is survived by: his wife JoAn Wade Kimbrell Gurganus; his children, Michael Benton and Robin Elton; his stepdaughters, Jenny Jones (Jimmy), Janice Gosnell (Doug) and Rebecca Kimbrell (Andrew Parker); his grandchildren, Ashley Lee (Jimmy), Anna Laura Gurganus, Emily Rodgers Gurganus and Drew Thomas Gurganus; and his stepgrandchildren, Victoria Woods (Michael), Rob Gosnell (Athena) and Chris Gosnell (Valerie).
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Cordova Church of Christ (208 Alabama Ave, Cordova, AL 35550). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 7th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
