He was predeceased by: his daughter Kimberlee A. Waldrop; his granddaughter Candace A. Capps; his parents, Mary Alice Johns McCarty and William C. McCarty; and his siblings, Catherine McCarty, Patsy R. Hand, William D. McCarty and Ralph A. McCarty.

He is survived by: his wife Patty McCarty; and his brother Neil W. McCarty (Dorothy). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
