He was predeceased by: his parents, Romana Simmons (Garcia) and Dr. John Terry Simmons. He is survived by: his wife Rene; his children, Sarah Simmons (Adam) of San Antonio, TX, John Terry Simmons II of New Orleans, LA and Brooks Steitz (John) of Alexandria, VA; his grandchildren, Eleanor, Jack and Russell; his sister Anna Gainer (Hugh); and his nephews, Frankie Ellis and Hugh Gainer, Jr. (Holly).
