With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jimmie Jesse Gowan of Jasper, Alabama, who passed away on January 10, 2021 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, William Garrett Gowan and Laura Salois Gowan; his children, Karla Renee Walls and Jimmie Edward Gowan; his grandchildren, Renee Michelle Sherer, Kristopher Kane Morris and Jimmie Shane Sanders; his great grandchild Zachary Cordes Sherer; his siblings, Robert Gowan, William Garrett Gowan, June Gowan, Eva Evans and Joyce Marie McGillen; and his parents-in-law, Homer Edward Cordes and Edyth Woodley Cordes.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret Cordes Gowan; his children, John William Gowan (Katherine) and Joyce Marie Hallmark (Billy); his grandchildren, Teri Head, Johnny Shannon Sanders, Michael Morris, Sheryl Gowan, Jennifer Gowan, Stephanie Gowan, Jason Gowan (Lori), Justin Gowan (TaNiesha) and Rebecca Gowan; and his brother-in-law Joe Stephen Cordes. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and other too many to name relatives and special friends.

The Family requests that in lieu of flowers that you donate to St. Judes, the Gideons, or any other charity of your choice in memory of Jim.
