He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Denise Gilmore; his father James Jerry Gilmore; his grandparents, Athlene Akins, Ollie Akins, Carrie Gilmore and J. C. Gilmore; and his parents-in-law, Vile Gurganus, Rhonda Gurganus and Tammy Gilmore.

He is survived by: his children, Bethany Byars (Joseph), Hunter Gilmore and Malea McCain (Mason); his mother Sherlene Gilmore; his brother Greg Gilmore; his mother-in-law Magdalene Gurganus; and his siblings-in-law, Marlin Gurganus (Donna), Terry Gurganus (Cathy), Anthony Gurganus (Libby) and Cynthia Prescott (Gary). He is also survived by nephew and nieces and many friends.
