She is survived by: her fiancé Alton Farley; her daughters, Janiece Chandler (Ricky) and Tammy Kittrell (Skip); her sister Charlotte Williams (Perry); her grandchildren, Joe Higgins, Tiffany Higgins, Matthew Chandler and Tiffany Chandler; her great grandchildren, Braxton Higgins, Lily Chandler and Tyler Chandler; and her close friends, Bob, Shirley Parkhurst and Shelia Atkins.

I was a shy child and Ms. Read was so kind and funny, she always made school a fun learning adventure with rewards for a good job. With one of the sweetest smiles, a big heart and fun personality, anytime I ran into Ms. Read even as an adult on into my thirties and forties she always recognized one of her babies.
