He was predeceased by: his parents, Charlie Johnston and Elsie Johnston; his siblings, Thomas Johnston and Marie Cooner; his grandparents, Andrew, Mary Johnston, Ruffus and Ella Pendley; and his parents-in-law, Andrew and Geneva Pendley.

He is survived by: his wife Stacy Mae Pendley Johnston; his children, Lynn Johnston (Janet) and Darlene Borden (Jim); his grandchildren, Teddy Johnston, Michael Johnston (Kelsey), Isaac Johnston, Kaela Borden and Brent Borden; and his sister Murl Pendley (Doyle). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
