She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Pierce and Wyola Grimes Pierce; her siblings, Edgar Pierce, Jr. and Anne Pierce Bailey; her former husband James S. Freeman, Jr.; and her son James S. Freeman, III.

She is survived by: her brother Thomas Pierce; and her children, Jeff, Ted, Rob Freeman and Pat Freeman Thayer. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
