With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mitchell Willard McKay of Jacksonville, Alabama, who passed away on March 15, 2024. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy McKay of Stemley; his children, Amy McCreless (Allen) of Jacksonville and John McKay (Melody) of Spring Garden; and his grandchildren, Jacob McCreless, Jonah McCreless, Sarah Kate McKay and Mitchell McKay.

While at Winterboro, McKay was selected to receive a National Science Foundation stipend, he was granted a leave of absence, and moved to Athens, Georgia, where he earned his Master's Degree in Science Education from the University of Georgia.
