He is survived by: his wife Millie Stevenson Holmes; his children, Greg Holmes (Natalya) of Roanoke, VA, Phil Holmes (Leslie) of Jacksonville and Ivye Holmes Hayes of Jacksonville; his grandchildren, Ryan Holmes, Taylor Holmes (Melina), Holly Holmes, Joseph Holmes (Ralucca), Aleisha Holmes, Lindsey Holmes, Lisa Harris (Ethan), Madelyne Hayes Giamalva (Victor), Jonathan Holmes (Courtney), Hayley Holmes, Hunter Holmes and Lucas Holmes; his great grandchildren, Rachel Harris, William Harris, Rorie Holmes and Lily Harris; and his sister Lois Haynes of Alpine, AL. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
