She was predeceased by: her parents, Will Mathis and Malisse Kennedy Mathis; her husband Daniel Atkins; her daughter Lula Mae Atkins Smith; her great grandchildren, Jarvis Woodruff and Demestress Jackson; and her children-in-law, Aaron Nixon, Kenneth Smith, Sr., Harold Clark and Gwendolyn Johnson Atkins.
She is survived by: her children, Mary Louise of Jacksonville, Alabama, Carol Annette of Jacksonville, Alabama, Bobby Atkins of Jacksonville, Alabama, Charles Atkins of Jacksonville, Alabama and Lynn Means (Kenneth) of Jacksonville, Alabama; and her grandchildren, Constance Atkins Nation, ToWanda Evette Elliott (Ron) of Glenn Heights, Travis Atkins (Alisha) of Jacksonville, Kenneth Earl Smith (Stacie) of Jacksonville, Laketra Atkins of Jacksonville, Shawn Atkins (Eloise) of Jacksonville, Flenard Martice Atkins of Jacksonville, Danyale Atkins (Jennifer) of Jacksonville, Jermaine Nixon (Jody) of Jacksonville, Brandice Atkins of Jacksonville and Charles Atkins Jr. of Detroit, Michigan. She is also survived by twenty-seven great-grandchildren; twenty-six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the K. L. Brown Funeral Home (322 Nisbet St NW, Jacksonville, AL 36265). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 7th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
