He was predeceased by: his parents, Minnie Sims and Will Sims; and his siblings, Icie Bell Bolan, Estele Blackston, Gurtrude Davis, Edna Pike, Barney Sims and William Sims.
He is survived by: his wife Gail Sims; his children, Gary, Tony (Peggy) and Danny Sims; his sisters, Alice Cleveland and Betty Harper; and his stepchildren, Lowell Thomas, Wanda Sherrer (Danny), Larry Thomas (Amanda), Buddy Thomas and Rita Phillips (Dale). He is also survived by 11 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.
