He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam W. Smith, Sr. (Bess Smith) and Nell Smith Lawler (Leo); and his niece Lydia Lawler Tanley. He is survived by: his wife Betty Schrimsher Smith; his son Wes Smith (Carla) of Thomaston, Georgia; his grandsons, Tyler Smith (Kasey) and Hunter Smith (Emily) of Georgia; his great grandchildren, Peyton and Henry Smith of Georgia; his niece Sharron Calvert (Steve) of New Market, Alabama; and his nephew-in-law Richard Tanley of New Market, Alabama..
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Laughlin Service Funeral Home Chapel (2320 Bob Wallace Ave SW, Huntsville, AL 35805). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holmes Street United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
