He was predeceased by: his parents, John Roland Gooch, Sr. and Irma Drake Gooch; his wife Margie Viola Reagan; his siblings, Dorothy Durham and Grady Gooch; and his grandson Matt Wood.

He is survived by: his children, Terry Donald (Vylatte), Jane Claire (Abott) and John Michael (Cathy); his sister Sarah Sparks; his great grandchild John Gooch (Selina); his children, Emma, Ella Gooch, Jennifer Medley (Todd Nunn) and Rusty Gooch; and his grandchildren, Roland and Lennon Wood. He is also survived by His wife, children, grandchildren, brother, sisters and mother.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of North Alabama or the American Cancer Society.
