He is survived by: his wife Patty Montgomery Atherton; his children, Robert (Lee), John (Angela) and Melony (Phil); and his grandchildren, Cassie, Madalyn Atherton, Emma Pullen, Mason, Sam Maughan and Emily Atherton.
