He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Gene, Ova Gilbert, Robert Piper and Peggy Piper; his stepmother Teresa Gilbert; his aunt Gloria King; and his uncle Randy Martin.

He is survived by: his son Zac Gilbert; his parents, Michael Gilbert and Vickie Crotts (Robert); his girlfriend Kristie Lawrence; his siblings, Kevin, Amanda and Stacie (Chris); and his grandmother Mona Piper. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
