He was predeceased by: his parents, Hobart McCarty and Claude McCarty; his former wife Betty Sue McCarty; his wife Velma McCarty; his siblings, Mike McCarty and Jean Bell; and his son David Bates.
He is survived by: his children, Ricky McCarty (Kellie) and Becky Jones (Robert); his grandchildren, Garrett Lee McCarty (Ashley), Devin McCarty (Ashley), Natalie Jones, Hadley, Bryant, Ema, Rylee, Naomi and Vivian; his brother Robert McCarty; his children, Johnny Bates, Barbara Savage, Carol Capps and Tricia Justice; and his grandchildren, Rebecca Vernazza, Chris Godfrey and Alec Bates.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Peoples Funeral Home (195 Brooklane Dr, Hueytown, AL 35023). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Liberty Baptist Church. A burial will be held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at the same location.
