She was predeceased by: her husbands, Claude Cooper and Nelson Scales; her sons, Wayne Cooper and Kenneth Cooper; her granddaughter Charlene Short; and her great grandchild Zachary Melton.
She is survived by: her daughter Dianne Melton (Roger); her grandchildren, Ricky Dale Melton, Tracy Thompson (James), Amanda Cooper and Miranda Cooper; and her siblings, Jack Howton (BJ) and Ruby Denson. She is also survived by great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home (1300 4th Ave N, Bessemer, AL 35020). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at the Oakland Cemetery (1140 Warrior Rd, Birmingham, AL 35218).
