He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Gaither and Violet Gaither; and his parents-in-law, Artis and Daisy Riddle. He is survived by: his brother Don Smith; his wife Anita Gaither; his children, Kevin Gaither (Tanya), Jenny Ragsdale (Mark) and Nina Wilson (Josh); his brothers, Hollis Gaither (Regina), Darrell Gaither (Shelia), Ricky Gaither (Delitha), Timmy Gaither (Susan) and PawPaw; and his grandchildren, Kourtney Ragsdale, Kaitlan Ragsdale, Jordan Ragsdale, Taylor Wilson, Eli Wilson, Jesse Wilson, Wade Gaither and Bryson Walker. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
