He was predeceased by: his parents, Clinton Godsey and Martha Godsey; his wife Owene A. Godsey; and his brother Lanier Godsey. He is survived by: his children, Robert Godsey (Tonya) and Mary Moore; his grandchildren, James David Moore (Mary), Stephen D. Moore (Haley), Mary Beth Bush (Evan), John Godsey, Chris Godsey (Lauren), Brittney Godsey and Amelia Godsey; his great grandchildren, Ethan Moore, Ella Moore, Eli Moore, Liam Moore, Ryley Moore, Kinley Moore, Maddie Bush, Bryson Bush, Ava Godsey and Jade Godsey; and his sister-in-law Betty Godsey.
Visitation was held on Friday, April 18th 2025 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Nichols Funeral Home - Double Springs (25714 AL-195, Double Springs, AL 35553). The lying in state was held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Houston Memorial United Methodist Church (4886 Co Rd 63, Houston, AL 35572). A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
