He was predeceased by: his wife Loleta Claibon Thomas; his son Undra Carter; his parents, Alonzo Thomas and Mary Ella Thomas; and his siblings, Annie Mae, Hattie Thomas, Mary Bell Phelps, Dorothy Mae Davis, Charlie, William Henry, Freddy Lee and Alonzo Jr..

He is survived by: his children, Undrea Carter of Detroit, MI, Eldred Thomas of Huntsville, AL, Eryca Thomas and Demetria Belser of Montgomery, AL; his stepdaughter Tiffany Kennedy of Montgomery, AL; his siblings, Bertha Smith of Montgomery, AL, McGrath Jean Thomas of Washington, DC and John Willie Thomas of Hope Hull, AL; his siblings-in-law, Sophie Smith Thomas of Hope Hull, AL, Jessie Thorn Thomas, Farris Bell, Francina Carter of Montgomery, AL and Edward Claibon of Montgomery, AL; his aunt Rosie Phillips Jackson of Hope Hull, AL; and his cousin Alice Mae Jackson of Hope Hull, AL. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
