James Preston Tharp Obituary

We are sad to announce that on May 8, 2020, at the age of 87, James Preston Tharp (Hope Hull, Alabama), born in Hazard, Kentucky passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Erwin and Mary Wiseman Tharp; and his siblings, Carl Erwin Tharp, Jr. and Earleen Smith. He is survived by: his wife Mary Nell; his children, Jim Wassner (Nora), Carl Tharp (Cheryl) and Pam Thompson (Larry); and his sister Carolyn Lovelady. He is also survived by five grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Due to the safety of everyone, during this time of the COVID-19 virus, the family has chosen a private viewing and visitation among the family and close friends, to be held at 10:00 am at Leak Memory on Thursday, May 14, 2020, with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 am in Greenwood Cemetery.
