He was predeceased by: his parents, George Dowdy and Geneva Whitehead Dowdy; his siblings, Jack Dowdy and Dollie Jacobs; and his daughter Kim Dowdy.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Ellis Dowdy; his daughters, Gerry Britton (Lance) and Teresa J. White of Montgomery; his siblings, Joyce Rowe (Edgar) of Willacoochee, Henry Dowdy (Sarah) of Ray City and Bobbie Martin (Ray) of Eatonton; and his sons, Sonny Dowdy (Geraldine) of Mystic and Greg Dowdy (Margaret) of Irwinville. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
