He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Lucas and Nancy Lucas; and his brothers, Mark and Johnny. He is survived by: his brother Jason Lucas; his wife Shellye; his daughters, Amanda Battle (Chad), Brittney Bundy (Paul), Sarah Lucas and Thea Willard (Travis); and his grandchildren, Charlotte Bundy, Reagan and Evan Willard.

“Our daughter and son-in-law were officers with the BPD. Angie for 4 years and Michael for 7. On 12/15/2015 Michael committed suicide. After staying with us for five weeks, Angie went back home & five days later on 1/19/2016 she committed suicide. We know what you're going through. "For He will give His angels special charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways of obedience and service." Ps 91:11 (Amp Bible). You will make it through this unspeakable nightmare.”
