Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Mary Elizabeth Cato of Hoover, Alabama, born in Birmingham, Alabama, who passed away at the age of 88, on April 7, 2023. She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert C. Barnes and Vivian B. Barnes; her sister Vivien Barnes Cummings; her brother-in-law Houston Cummings; and her husband Edron L. Cato of Trafford.

She is survived by: her siblings, Robert Barnes (Judy) and Patricia Gillespie; her children, Michael Cato (Rita), Linda Wurstner (David), Cindy Cato, Douglas Cato (Melissa) and Susan Crocker (Guil); her grandchildren, Alex Wurstner (Nikki), Rachel Wurstner, Kayla Light Yeager (Brandon) and Gwendolyn Cato (David Allen); and her great grandchildren, Travis Wurstner, Lana Yeager, Trevin Yeager, Gavin Yeager and Charles Allen. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
