He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Buckley Nelson and Emily Summerour Nelson. He is survived by: his brothers, Joel Nelson (Beverly) of Spruce Pine, N. C. and Sam of Birmingham; his nieces, Jill Nelson of Birmingham and Kristi LeBlanc (Ryan) of New Orleans; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Emily Owen Mendelsohn, Mary Reynolds LeBlanc, Hope LeBlanc, Harrison LeBlanc, Litt LeBlanc, Park Mendelsohn and Fields Mendelsohn.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens (2701 John Hawkins Pkwy, Hoover, AL 35244). A funeral service was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM at the same location.
