She was predeceased by: her parents, Charlie Bethel Owens (C. B.) and Mary Guinn Hendon Owens; her husband Ernest M. Burgess; her son-in-law Gary Cody; and her sisters, Sara Morris and Charlie Guinn West.
She is survived by: her daughter Gina Cody; her grandsons, Michael Cody (Maegan) and James Cody (Nicole); her great grandchildren, Noah, Aldyn, Callan, Ridge Cody and Madelyn Mae Cody; and her sisters, Joyce LaFoy and Nellie Henderson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Church (2211 McGwier Dr, Hoover, AL 35226). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Josie's love for missions, memorial gifts may be sent in her name to Church on the Bluff for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering.
