He was predeceased by: his parents, Veamon Sanders, Sr. and Edward Lee Sanders; his wife Gertrude Sanders; and his siblings, Fannie Mitchum, Cleophus Sanders and Clara Sanders Harris.
He is survived by: his children, Joe Anthony Sanders (Mary) and Valerie Deneen Moore (Darren); his grandchildren, Tamisha, Matthew, John Sanders, Brittney Fields (Juwan) and Jaeden Moore; his great grandchildren, Kenzo Ahmir Fields and Vizion Ari'Myles Sanders; and his siblings, Veamon Sanders (Sandra), Mary McWaine (William), Evelyn Griffin, Dorris, Gloria Witherspoon (Edward) and Larry Sanders (Christine).
