Jim Spears Obituary

We are sad to announce that on January 10, 2025, at the age of 92, Jim Spears of Hoover, Alabama passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Dean Spears and Mary Ruth Ward Spears; his former wife Billie Charles Dewberry Spears; his siblings, Genevia Hegi, Virginia Ellzey, Thomas Spears, Dean Spears and Virgil Spears; and his nephew Daniel Spears.

He is survived by: his wife Bobbie Bracken Herrington; his children, Leigh Ann Horst of Fleming Island, FL. and Stan Spears (Liz) of Hoover, AL.; his grandsons, Jacob Horst and Jordan Horst; his great grandchildren, Jordan Horst and Jack Horst; and his stepchildren, Sharon McInnish (Carl) of Brewton, AL., Bill Herrington (Kay) of Brewton, AL., Ronny Herrington (Pat) of Brewton, AL. and Tammi Bondurant (Maxie). He is also survived by numerous step-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Atmore United Methodist Church (311 S Pensacola Ave, Atmore, AL 36502). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Auburn Memorial Park (1000 E Samford Ave, Auburn, AL 36830).
