It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Bennett of Hoover, Alabama, born in Athens, Tennessee, who passed away on December 25, 2024, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Bennett and Sue Bennett; his grandparents, Hubert, Lorena Bennett, Oscar and Molly Swafford; his in-laws, Kenneth and Imogene Johnston; his brothers-in-law, Steve Johnston and Ken Johnston (Windy); his niece Adrienne Johnston; and his sister-in-law Debbie Bunch.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Johnston Bennett; his children, Blair Bennett, James, Whitney Bennett, Laura and Skyler Braddock; his grandchildren, Jackson Bennett, Noah Bennett, Graham Braddock, Collins Bennett and Caden Braddock; his sisters, Sharon (Mike Moore), Freda (Jack Van Tassell) and Teresa (Willard Moses); and his nieces and nephews, Eric, Kate Moore, Kara Moore, Josh, Mary Moore, Ashton, Robert Martin, Allison, Zach Turner, Mandy, Brandon Leslie, Matthew and Jessie Johnston.

Viewing was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Hunter Street Baptist Church (2600 John Hawkins Pkwy, Hoover, AL 35244). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens (2701 John Hawkins Pkwy, Hoover, AL 35244).
