He was predeceased by: his daughter Kathryn Elizabeth Mauldin; his parents, Joseph Mauldin and Eva Mauldin of Cullman; his siblings, Carolyn Mauldin Stephens of Benton and David Mauldin; and his grandson Clay Paxton Mauldin.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Ann Ziegler Mauldin; his sons, George Allan Mauldin, Jr. (Janet) of Anniston and Christopher Brooksie Mauldin of Nashville, Tennessee.; his grandchildren, Olivia Kathryn Mauldin of Pelham and Casey Christopher Mauldin (Amy); and his great grandchildren, Robert Paxton Mauldin of Virginia Beach, John R. Tucker (Kathleen), Myles, Ransom Tucker of Burbank, James L. Tucker of Phoenix and Robbie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
