He is survived by: his parents, John D. Wimberly, Sr. and Mary E. Wimberly; his brothers, Gary Wimberly and Dean Wimberly (Becky); and his nephews, Austin (Maris) and Mark.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Shades Crest Baptist Church Building Fund.
