He was predeceased by: his brother Mark Martinez. He is survived by: his children, Billy Joe Bates, Jr., Cheyenne Elizabeth Bates and Shelia Holt; his parents, Larry Bates and Olivia Bates; his brothers, John Martinez (Jeanie) and Dustin Clay; and his nieces, Shelby Martinez and Rylee Martinez.
